Ollie's Incredible Journey
I, along with the communicators I work with, strive to be good stewards of stories and often strategize about how one story can be used on a multitude of channels both print and digital. Ollie's story was discovered in 2021 and was so complex that I wrote a three-part blog post that followed his health journey with Mary Bridge Children's.
Along with posting to our blog and social media channels, I worked with our public relations team to find a way to pitch Ollie's story to the local media. We identified a piece of Ollie's story -- his annual return for Valentine's Day and were able to successfully pitch to Komo News' Weekly Eric's Heroes segment as well as various channels for in 2022 and 2023.
Because Ollie's story was so well received, we also worked with an outside agency to create a video that we used at multiple fundraising events.
Goal: To use strategic communications and storytelling to raise public awareness and community support for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, especially in advance of the public giving efforts for the new Mary Bridge campus project.
